Galveston work roster

What are your thoughts on the recently passed proposal? Try and keep it civil and/ or constructive...

seems to be the most "functional"
idea yet. if they cannot get 150 hours (a 4 hour call per day for less than 38 days), they should go work at jack in the box.
there are more than 38 days worth of 4 hour calls on the island.
the only thing stopping them from coming to houston for a call is the same thimg that keeps most of the houston hands off the island--economics and time.
who REALLY wants to drive an hour each way AND pay for gas and parking for a 4 hour call?
in reality, it is a losing proposition for a Houston hand to take a Galveston call, and vice-versa.
the only real gain is chipping away at the number of hours it takes to maintain your roster number.
enough is enough.
what is on the table is the most equitable solution to date.

If you're at home doing nothing wouldn't you want the oppurtunity to make a few extra bucks. As for the mentallity,No body wants to work in Galveston has to stop because there is people who want to work in Galveston. You're not thinking about the future, there is going to be a new theatre built in Galveston.Who's going to apply for this positions? The guy who was thinking about learning a new craft(the junior members),the person who was thinking about the future.

call me when the shuttle lands.
when does this new venue open?
do we have a labor agreement in place with this venue?

until this place opens, there is, for all practical purposes, only
the 1894 and the odd AVW call.

deal with the here and now.
not with what MIGHT be down the road.

why is Malcom still involved in this? Shirley he's not the only person who can make phone calls on Galveston island, but wait. he doesn't live on the island does he?
Does he actually live in Galveston county?

Don't call me "Shirley", and don't expect the work roster to be skipped over just so YOU can earn a few "extra" bucks.

Hey Mr. Anomynous, Malcolm Pye is the business rep in Galveston. DUH, do you think maybe that's why he's giving out the calls? Put out the reefer and learn about stagehanding 101 and how calls are made. I hear your whining everyday at work. If you were paid at a bitch per hour rate, you and all of your cronies could retire!

As far as the way calls are made in Galveston,I see one of those guys going to the N.L.R.B. because It's still arbitiry on who gets the calls. There should only be one roster and If I'm not mistaken this's local 51.One local, one roster. The argument is,who want's work in Galveston and vica versa.Well I see that out of the 20 or so that came over from the merger are working here in Houston with the exeption of a few. With that said please stop assuming that all Houston hands don't want to work in Galveston.
